Dr Nipa. Siddarth. Thakkar.

Dr. Nipa. Thakkar hails from a very literate and an enriched family of art and literature. She inherited all these qualities from her Parents Shri Sidharth. Thakkar and Mrs. Arati. Thakkar. She is the great grand niece of (Late) Shri Amrutlal Vithaldas Thakkar, a renowned social worker and reformist and contemporary of Mahatma Gandhi.  Dr. Nipa’s grandfather was a SHAYAR (Poet), WRITER AND AN EMINENT SCHOLAR OF LITERATURE, adopting a pen name- “SHAHBAAZ”.  For that very reason her home is named “SAHAHBAAZ”.

Dr, Nipa. Thakkar commands the art of precise, expressive, and graceful expressions and movement traditionally and performs on stage in accord with musical accompaniment. Her Dancing is known for natural expression of united feeling and action.

Her father Mr. Siddarth. Thakkar is also a well known singer, during school and college time. Till very date, he regularly sings at “SURILI SAANJ” , a musical program regularly presented every month for last 18 years.

Even before Dr. Nipa graduated from Gujarat Ayurvedic University, she accomplished her degree of ‘NRUTRA VISHARAD”.  She learned the art of KATHAK DANCE from ShrI Dharamshibhai Shah at KALA KSHETRA, BHAVNAGAR.

She is also awarded with the degrees in NRUTRA (KATHAK DANCE) from Akhil Bhrtiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya.

Dr. Nipa’s KALA GURUJI Shri. Dharamshibhai Shah established Kala Kshetra, to teach Classical Dances as back as over 60 years. He has been awarded the highest state of honour by the “Govt Of Gujarat” a Doctorate from Akhil Bharat Gandhrav Maha Vidhyalay.  GURUJI taught this state of art of KATHAK DANCE to more than 5000 students,  Dr. Nipa is one of the most outstanding students amongst all of them.

Ø  Qualified through “Ramat Gamat and Yuva Sanskrutik Vibhag as a number one in the State Level competition, she was selected to represent Gujarat State at All India Competition at Chennai, (Tamilnadu) where she was awarded second runner up in the year 1998. She was first ever to receive this honour from Gujarat.

Ø  In January 1999, represented SHARAD UTSAV, named “KAL KE KALAAKAR” organised by the Govt of Gujarat.

Ø  Dr . Nipa’s mesmerising performances have left commendable impression to the elite audience of 125 years old “THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY” at an Annual Conference.

Ø  Regularly Performs at SURILI SAANJ, ( a program certified by Limka Book of Records having been the longest running musical program being presented every month for more than 18 years.) at the City of Bhavnagar.

Ø  In 2006, Dr. Nipa was invited to visit FRANCE through a cultural organization called, where her three weeks of trip to Europe was extended to 16 weeks. Her electrifying performances at Europe not only extended her stay at Europe but also brought her dancing skills into lime light and put hers on a pedestal with the FRENCH MEDIA as well.

Ø  At the age of 13, she choreographed her very first performance at the school, brought applauses of the judges and the audience.

Ø  Choreographed at NANDKUVARBAA KSHATRIYA KANYA VIDYALAYA established by the erstwhile State of Bhavnagar, in the year, 2002, 2004 and 2006. Her special Choreography on NAVDURGA and Shiv Tandav, Stotra brought laurels and applause to the function. In later year she choreographed the episode of ‘BHARAT MILAAP’ in the form of a Dance Drama from the world famous epic of RAMAYAN. Incidentally, the dance drama was written in poetic form by none other than Dr.Nipa’s grandfather (late) “Shahbaaz”!

Ø  Choreographed “SAJAN BETHU MANDVAE” another Dance Drama narrating a sequence of incidence taking place during the marriage ceremony in the countryside of Gujarat and particularly in Saurastra, for “KALA GURJARI” at Chembur, Vile Parle and other famous auditorium at Mumbai, where she was facilitated and won the appraisal of the judges. The program was widely acclaimed by the Press Media. Subsequently the program was staged at many other cities and centers in Gujarat.

Ø   Choreographed and performed in the esteemed presence of the present Prime Minister Shri Narandra Modi to celebrate the Gujarat Day in the year of 2005 on 1st May  , where she directed and performed as a Krishna Devotee and poet MIRABAI, leading the team of more than 30 Dance scholars. Mr. Modi got impressed with the performance.

Ø  Choreographed a musical dance on the auspicious occasion of the announcement of KALPASAR PROJECT, A huge multi-dimensional project on the bay of Cambay, at the city of Bhavnagar.

Ø  Dr. Nipa is privileged to have a special training and coaching from PANDIT Birjumaharaj at Nehru Center, Delhi and also from Pandit Rajendra Gangani of Delhi.

Ø  Along with classical dancing, Dr. Nipa has keen interest in Modern and Ancient dance, Folk dances,  Dandia Rass and Garbaas

Ø  She graced several functions under the patronage of the “Govt of Gujarat” as a judge and won the confidence of the participants as well as of the organizers.

Ø  Dr. Nipa offered her services for the dance exams organized by “THE AKHIL BHARTIYA GANDHARVA MAHA MANDAL” being held regularly at the various locations at Gujarat.

Ø  Dr. Nipa has taken training as a singer from Shri Rasik Andharia’s daughter Miss Shilpa. Andheria and later from Dr. Ms. Gopa Chakraborty.

Along with her regular appearances as a choreographer, Judge and artist at the musical shows, in morning time, she spends her time with growing kids, assist at the Nest Play House and at evening, she serves her regular patients as a medical doctor.    In the evening, she runs batch wise classes for over 100 girls from Grade one to Grade seven to teach Kathak Dance.
